What is Breathwork?
Breathwork is a somatic (body-based) practice that uses conscious, connected breathing to access and release what’s held in your body—unprocessed emotions, trauma, tension, and old patterns that talking alone can’t reach.
This isn’t meditation or relaxation breathing. It’s active, powerful, and often transformative.
When you’re navigating a life transition—divorce, grief, career change, health challenges—your body holds the story. Anxiety lives in your chest. Grief sits in your throat. Old patterns grip your belly. Breathwork creates space for your body to release what it’s been carrying, often for years.
You don’t need to understand why you’re holding something. Your body knows. The breath gives itpermission to let go.
What happens in a breathwork session:
Connected breathing (circular, continuous, no pause between inhale and exhale)
Your nervous system shifts into an activated state
Emotions, memories, or sensations may surface
Your body releases what it’s ready to release
Integration and grounding afterward
It’s intense. It’s profound. It’s safe when properly guided.
Physical and Emotional Experiences
What to Expect During and After Breathwork
During a breathwork session, participants often experience a range of physical sensations such as tingling, shifts in body temperature, and a palpable flow of energy. These sensations are accompanied by a profound sense of relaxation that lingers long after the session concludes. Emotionally, individuals might encounter a release of pent-up emotions, gaining clarity and a sense of lightness. This process can be deeply cathartic, offering a renewed perspective and emotional freedom. Each session is unique, providing a safe space for personal exploration and healing.
Important Safety Considerations
When Breathwork May Not Be Suitable
Breathwork is not recommended if you have: uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart conditions, severe asthma, epilepsy, are pregnant, or have recent surgery. When in doubt, consult your physician.
What Our Participants Are Saying
Preparing for Your Breathwork Session
To fully benefit from your breathwork session, it’s essential to prepare both your mind and environment. Begin by choosing a quiet, private space where you feel safe and undisturbed. This will be your sanctuary for the duration of the session.
What to Wear
Select comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for unrestricted movement and deep breathing. Your comfort is key to a successful session, so opt for layers that you can easily adjust as your body temperature changes.
Gather Your Essentials
Ensure you have a yoga mat or a soft surface to lie on, as well as tissues and water within reach. A light snack beforehand can help maintain your energy levels, but avoid heavy meals. These simple preparations will help you focus entirely on your breathwork journey.
